Teaching and Learning

We will be an inclusive environment in which we are all learners and one where the learning needs of the individual are recognized.

We will strive to ensure that the whole school is an excellent learning.

We aim to put our children at the centre of their own learning and place great emphasis on nurturing skills and attitudes such as resourcefulness, resilience and co-operation. Our teachers bring the National Curriculum alive by making links between the individual subjects and applying them to topics.

Activities

Present system of education lays too much stress on mental development and it completely neglects physical development of children. For an all round development of children sports games, health education, Karate, Skating, Yoga, Swimming, Music, Dance are included in all.

Field-Visits

Direct experience is best to learn. We organize opportunities for children to learn by seeing, feeling and doing. Through these experiences, children establish their understanding as well as acquire the social, intellectual and physical skills necessary for the development of meaningful concepts. Excursions combined with seeing and doing are vital components of any early education program.

Specialist Tuition

Every week, each class teacher spends half a day outside of their teaching duties to concentrate on lesson planning and evaluating their pupils' learning. All of the teachers who provide cover for these half days are experts in specialist subjects. This allows our children to benefit from weekly specialist tuition in music, PE, art, drama and languages or specialist early years' support, according to which year they are in.

Homework

Home work is seen as an important part of the learning process. Children are encouraged to extend their school work into their homes to expand on and organize their own work, to search for information and to solve problems.

As the children become older, their work should be viewed as a form of preparation for secondary education. We would not expect a child to spend much more than forty minutes uninterrupted working time at home.

Our belief is that all children should have the opportunity to experience the joy of discovery and develop a love of learning.
